AmbassadorsVanessa Paradis in a ”Frost” movie
A well known Lithuanian director Šarūnas Bartas’ movie “Frost” which has already gained recognition in Cannes Film Festival will be available in Lithuanian cinemas from August 18. The movie star Vanessa Paradis wears Julia Janus clothing during the filming. She also chose Julia Janus SHARP jeans for the movie premiere.
Main movie characters Rokas and Inga – youth of new and independent Lithuania, who haven’t seen war, haven’t felt repressions and coercion of occupational government. They enthusiastically accept the proposal to bring humanitarian aid by minibus from Vilnius to Kiev. This plan becomes a challenge for a couple. The road leads to abandoned snowy Donbass. Looking for allies and shelter, young couple meet the people who have been affected by war. Approaching the front line, Rokas and Inga approach each other. In the face of war they start to understand the fragility of life and the value of love.
Paradis in “Frost” is a war journalist who teaches Rokas about the meaning of love and encourages him to start photographing. Her face is also seen on movie posters. A well known polish actor Chyra’s character supervises foreign journalists’ work in Ukraine and looks after the young couple’s journey. However his friendliness quickly changes to threat and hopelessness.
In comparison to previous Bartas’ movies which didn’t have clear narrative or long dialogues, “Frost” is more universal. However, the director stresses out that he was not trying to create a movie which would be easily understandable to everyone. “I don’t create movies only to grow my viewers’ number. In such case I would have to simplify the movie to the maximum. And that would not be interesting for me”, - says Bartas.
